A day in William Faulkner’s beloved Yoknapatawpha County – in reality Lafayette County and Oxford, Mississippi, Faulkner’s hometown. Oxford is known for its unique blend of small town charm and big city sophistication. Town life centers around the Courthouse Square which you may recognize from “A Time To Kill” written by John Grisham, another of Oxford’s residents. You’ll enjoy a traditional southern dinner – served mid-day as it was done here in the South – and have time to further acquaint yourself with Mississippi writers at Square Books, one of the nation’s best independent book stores. You’ll be welcomed to Rowan Oak, Faulkner’s Southern mansion, by the curator and have time to wander the grounds before visiting the University of Mississippi Museums at Oxford’s beloved Ole Miss campus. Ole Miss is known for winning football teams and beautiful co-eds. It counts two Miss Americas among its graduates as well as Archie and Peyton Manning, father and son professional football quarterbacks.
